PM Stresses Following ‘Three Dos, Three Don’ts’ to Boost Economic Growth

PHNOM PENH: During the inauguration ceremony of the Cambodia-China Friendship Bridge on Tuesday morning, Prime Minister Hun Sen has stated the government is fully committed to the reopening of the country’s social and economic activities. This will be done after the implementation of safety measures and a strong vaccine campaign that will lead to the COVID-19 pandemic being under control.

Prime Minister Hun Sen says citizens must keep following the three dos, three don’ts’ principle and the implementation of strict health and safety measures so that the reopening will not lead the country to “go backwards”.

He has added that if all citizens diligently follow preventive measures, Cambodia’s national economic growth will be better than previously predicted.

He says, "Some forecasts have shown that Cambodia’s economic growth in 2021 will be between 2.4 and 2.8 percent, but with the well-management of the pandemic in the last two months of this year, I forecast there to be a 3 percent growth this year, and a growth of over 5 percent next year.”

The Prime Minister further commended the growth of the agriculture sector and expressed hope that tourism levels will recover in the final two months of the year.
